Forza Horizon 5 turns Mexico into a driving playground with a festival as its excuse. Playground Games' open-world racer lets you move between organized events and the simple act of taking a car down an interesting road. A busy map supplies the next possibility, but a good evening does not have to clear a whole region. One familiar route can be enough to notice that you are braking more cleanly than yesterday.
Road racing, dirt racing, cross-country events, and exploration ask different things from the car and driver. Surface changes matter. The fast car that feels composed on tarmac may become awkward on a rough trail, and adding power can make an existing handling problem more obvious. Starting with a car and event that suit each other helps you understand what went wrong before reaching for another upgrade.
Assists and difficulty settings give new drivers room to learn. A braking line can introduce a route, while traction and stability assistance can reduce the workload in an unfamiliar car. Those choices are tools to adjust as your confidence grows. There is little benefit in disabling everything at once if the result is a race spent recovering from the same spin.
The open world makes practice less formal. You can try a bend again, drive somewhere with friends, or choose an event because the scenery looks appealing. Car collecting, customization, and player-created activities provide other reasons to return. There are paid expansions and extra car content, so check what an edition includes before choosing it; the base game already provides a broad place to start.
It suits players who want racing with room to wander, especially those comfortable setting their own goals between events. Someone who wants a strict championship schedule or a detailed simulation of every aspect of motorsport may approach it differently. Horizon's rhythm leaves space for spectacle and improvisation alongside the racing technique.
