Build your champion's strength through the match, then turn an advantage into towers and a path to the enemy Nexus. Start with one role and a small champion pool.

How it plays, who it suits and where to start.
League of Legends puts two teams of five on a map where the main objective is destroying the enemy Nexus. On Summoner's Rift, lanes, defensive structures, and the jungle create several routes toward that goal. A good fight is useful when it gives your team something afterward: room to farm, a tower, an objective, or a way to finish the match.
Your champion grows stronger during the game through experience and purchases made with gold. That makes League different from a match where every player begins each encounter on equal terms. A small lead can change which fights are sensible, and falling behind calls for a different plan.
The standard team has top, jungle, mid, bot, and support positions. Each comes with its own work. A jungler moves between camps and opportunities around the map; a lane player has a more immediate opponent and minion wave to manage. Support is another way to influence the game, with attention to allies, information, and the space around fights.
Choose one position and a few champions you enjoy. There is plenty to learn without changing your abilities and role every match. Read a champion's skills, try their range, and work out what makes them useful before worrying about an elaborate build.
In a lane, practice getting the final hit on minions while watching where your opponent stands. Treat the minimap as part of the screen you actually use. When an enemy disappears from view, give yourself room to respond instead of assuming they have left you alone.
Buying items is also a decision about timing. Returning to base can make you stronger, but it temporarily removes you from the map. Think about the wave and where your team is going before walking away. You will make mistakes here; noticing a poor return is already more helpful than blaming the fight that happened afterward.
League suits players who enjoy learning how many small decisions change a larger contest. It asks you to adapt to teammates and opponents, and some matches will be difficult before you understand why.
Use a modest goal for a session: fewer avoidable deaths, steadier minion income, or arriving with your team for an important play. When watching a replay, stop before a mistake and look at the information available then. Improvement comes from making that next decision more clearly, rather than finding one person to blame for the result.
