Catch a companion, put the right Pal on the right job, and build a base that keeps working while you explore. Food and room to move count as much as machinery.

How it plays, who it suits and where to start.
Palworld mixes creature collecting with the ordinary problems of a survival settlement. You need food, materials, equipment, and somewhere to put them. The creatures you meet, called Pals, can travel and fight alongside you, but they also make the base interesting. A useful new companion may change how you produce a resource rather than simply make the next fight easier.
Pocketpair's game connects farming, crafting, construction, and exploration through the Pals' work abilities. Different creatures can help with jobs such as watering, gathering, mining, or supplying heat. A base therefore becomes a small management exercise. Having a machine does not mean its inputs will arrive, and having a capable worker does not mean it can reach the job or stay fed.
That is a more useful starting point than building the largest factory immediately. A modest camp with clear paths, reliable meals, and sensible storage can support a longer trip outside. When you return, the question is what actually ran out. That shortage gives the next expedition a purpose: look for a material, a worker with a missing ability, or a better place to establish an operation.
The open world includes hostile encounters, dungeons, powerful creatures, and environments to prepare for. Pals can also provide ways to travel across land, water, or through the air. Gathering a party for the journey and staffing the base are related choices, but they serve different needs. The companion you want beside you in danger need not be the best one to leave tending crops.
Solo players can set their own pace; groups can share the planning and the adventures. Agree on world settings and what counts as communal supplies before a shared save turns into an argument over missing resources. Multiplayer features and server arrangements deserve a platform check before purchase.
Palworld began in Early Access in January 2024. The current Steam listing records its full release as July 9, 2026, separately from that earlier date. Pocketpair links PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and a Mac App Store edition; the Xbox store also lists Xbox One support. This entry refers to Palworld itself, rather than its separate spin-offs.
